Care and Education that Positively Transform the Way People View and Experience Serious Illness and the End of Life

This site is a resource provided by Hospice of Northwest Ohio to help you make decisions about care at any stage of a diagnosis of serious illness. It may be important for you to learn a little more about who we are.

Hospice of Northwest Ohio served its first patients in 1981 and is the Toledo area's largest provider of hospice care. A community-based organization, we are the only freestanding, local nonprofit agency solely dedicated to caring for the terminally ill. We serve patients and their families in their own homes, in nursing homes and at our freestanding Hospice Centers. We are Joint Commission accredited and Medicare/Medicaid certified. No one is ever turned away due to inability to pay.

Additionally, through our Sincera Supportive Care and Symptom Relief program, we provide expert pain and symptom management for those with serious illness who are still seeking curative treatment or are not ready for hospice. Provided in the home, this consultative service works with a patient’s primary physician to identify ways to increase comfort and quality of life as well as enhance the patient’s understanding of their disease progression, treatment options and goals of care.

Our Mission:

Hospice of Northwest Ohio provides specialized medical, emotional and spiritual care to people of all ages–living with any end-stage illness–in northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan. Equally important, we also provide support and education to their families and caregivers.
